Many athletes use chiropractic care to help with their performance. There are chiropractors on every NFL team, every MLB team, and 31 of the 32 NHL teams… and there’s a reason for that! Chiropractic care has been shown to improve athletes’ mobility, decrease their pain, reduce risk of injury, improve balance, enhance muscular endurance, and increase strength. Certain trained chiropractors are also able to assess for concussion, and they can often treat the symptoms of concussion such as neck pain, headaches, and dizziness.
When it comes to performance, a study in 2018 in the European Journal of Applied Physiology found that one single session of spinal manipulation (otherwise known as a chiropractic adjustment) increased Taekwondo athletes' strength output in their calf muscle for 30 minutes following the manipulation. (And if you’re super nerdy, their corticospinal excitement remained elevated for 60 minutes following the manipulation. Ask your chiropractor what this means if you want to know more). Now, there could have been increased strength in more than just the calf muscle - but this is just the muscle they chose to measure. The point is this: improved strength and performance for 30 minutes can make a big difference in competitive outcomes.
So, chiropractors can help athletes in many ways, including performance. But why a mobile chiropractor, specifically? The fact that a chiropractor can come to you means that they can meet you where you’re at. Our Axon Health chiropractors have treated their patients at CrossFit competitions, baseball games, gymnastics meets, and powerlifting competitions. Having your provider right there can give you a competitive advantage over the competition, or provide you immediate care in your time of need.
Axon Health chiropractors go above and beyond for their patients. Meeting you at your sporting events is one of the ways they do that. If you’re looking for a chiropractor who is with you for every step of the way during your competition, contact us! We’re happy to help in any way we can.
